The Roc B10 was developed by the Brotherhood Ferrum in 2290 during conflicts with Cirecidus Domini. A craft was needed to weaken large Cirecidus Cruisers and Carriers which were too heavily armored for fighters to effectively engage. The ROC was that craft.
The Roc B10 is primarily a light tactical bomber housing an on-board M-ANTS (Manufacturing Autonomous Nanomachine Task System) producing the B10’s main armament, the MR3-Torpedo. More than 70% of the ships generated power is dedicated to nanofacturing MR3s which are launched in triple-sequence with a 15-20 second rearming time. The craft is also armed with two Rapid Cycle HF Pulse Lasers allowing a skilled pilot to hold their own in a dogfight.
The Mass Reaction Torpedo (MR3) is specifically designed for rapid nanofacturing with no guidance system or complex electronics, it’s simply propulsion and payload. Propulsion is achieved using a basic catalyzed ion thruster. The MR3 payload is tactical, designed to create a thermal cascade reaction in the targets hull weakening the structure at a molecular level over a larger area. The resulting damage is intended to overtax the enemies repair systems/crews until eventually damage exceeds the systems capacity.
The B10 is robust, but not so bulky as to sacrifice maneuverability. One of the advantages of the Roc is its range. It carries enough payload to let the enemy know you’re knocking on their door but is also light enough to tag along with long range patrol groups unlike some of the larger bombers and gunships manufactured around the same time. Another advantage is in it being a single pilot. The simplistic nature of the MR3 Torpedo eliminates the need for a dedicated Bomber on board.
