Personal Shield Generators offer limited protection against energy based weapons as well as harmful ambient radiation. Incoming charged particles are diffused across the disruption field and high velocity projectiles are deflected or vaporized. While PSG devices will temporally extend your resistance to damage they do not take the place of body armor in combat situations. Each impact weakens the disruption field and sustained fire will deplete the shield before it can recharge leaving you vulnerable.
